HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE

Okay so this may not be one of the greatest films of our time, but the story for how the movie was developed and produced should at least grant some kind of award. Rookie director Robert Townsend used a few credit cards and financed this tightly budgeted film. Also, to avoid having to obtain permits he had his staff dress like college students.

The content of the movie alone exploits the many stereotypes depicted upon black Americans around that time period. We follow the main character Bobby on his quest to become the next great Hollywood actor. The perspective of Robert Townsend and his team of writers, notably Keenan Ivory Wayans and others, uses clever comedy to produce this satirical piece "Hollywood Shuffle".
Although, this film was produced in my year of birth (1987) I still get a good laugh from it. Check out this clip to get a better understanding of the movie and then watch the actual film. After you've watched it tell me what you think.
